2017 KCSE Results to be Released Today

Education Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i  released the 2017 Kenya Certificate of  Secondary Education (KCSE) results on Wednesday.

The CS released the results at Nairobi School and thanked various stakeholders for ensuring the results were released in good time.

Earlier this week, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) issued a statement dismissing earlier reports that Matiang'i would release the results on December 18 2017.

“Our attention has been drawn to rumours circulating in the social media that the Ministry of Education will be releasing the 2017 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results on Monday.

"The Kenya National Examinations Council wishes to state categorically that the reports are totally incorrect.

"The process of marking national examinations is sensitive that the council often carries out meticulously and without any external pressure.

"As soon as the process is complete, the Ministry of Education will use its official channels to announce the date and the time of releasing the KCSE results,” reads part of a statement signed by KNEC Chairman Prof George Magoha.

Prior to the examination, KNEC warned of tough penalties for cheating, including a 10-year jail term or Sh2 million fine or both for revealing the contents of examination material to an unauthorised party, whether a candidate or not.

The council also warned it would cancel the results for individual candidates or entire examination centres if found guilty of irregularities.

In November CS Matiang'i caught many by surprise when he released the 2017 KCPE results earlier than usual.

Goldalyn Kakuya of St Anne Junior Lubao in Kakamega County emerged top student scoring 455 out of 500 marks.
