List of Top 10 2017 KCSE Candidates

The 2017 KCSE results were released on Wednesday at Nairobi School by Education CS Fred Matiang'i and the top students are;

1. Karimi Naomi Kawira - Pangani Girls 

2.  Sharon Chepchumba - Moi Girls Eldoret

3. Kamau Brian Maina - Alliance High School

4. Donata Odero - Lenana School

5. Harriet Mweke - Maryhill Girls

6. Brian Ongiri - Kanga High School

7. Moraa Mongina - Pangani Girls

8. Mwatate Emily - Pangani Girls

9.Wahome Wanjiku - Moi Girls Eldoret

10. Onyango Stanley Omondi - Maranda High School

The CS stated that some of the schools that performed well included; Alliance Girls High School, Kenya High School, Maranda High School and Pangani Girls- which was the most improved school nationally.

Matiang'i further added that there were 142A's countrywide, a slight improvement from 2016 where 141A's were recorded.

There was a drop in the number of A- from 4,645 in 2016 as only 2,714 were registered in 2017.

Generally, the number of candidates who scored C+ and above - which guarantees admission to public universities- has gone down from 2016.
