Harambee Stars Striker Lands Top County Job

Former Harambee Stars striker Allan Wanga is all smiles after being appointed as the Kakamega County Sports Director.

Wanga, who has previously played for Tusker FC in the local league will be tasked with overseeing and managing the development of sports in the region.

The forward who has several years of competitive football experience under his belt will also represent Kakamega Homeboyz in the Kenyan Premier League next season.

He expressed his pleasure at landing the role and promised to use the opportunity to nurture sports talent in his community.

“I am very happy and feel privileged to land this role at the County. It is an honor for me and comes in the line in which I am very passionate about.

"It has always been my ambition to serve my community and this is a great chance for me,” Wanga was quoted by Capital Sport.

The striker further revealed that he met the area Governor Wycliffe Oparanya in December and accepted to take up the offer.

“We met with the Governor (Wycliffe Oparanya) sometimes last month where we had these discussions and I could not decline the offer.

"Hopefully, I will use my experience and passion to help grow sports in this county,” he stated.

Wanga is currently completing a Business Management Course at the University of Nairobi and will look to implement some of his expertise in his new role.
