Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has revealed that he will consult his supporters on whether to vie for governorship in 2022.
Earlier reports had claimed that Sonko would quit in 2022 but in an interview with Kenyans.co.ke, one of his communication officers rubbished the claims.
"Sonko will consult his supporters and Nairobians in general on whether to defend his seat or not," stated the source.

In recent days, the Governor has come under heavy criticism for the filth in Nairobi's CBD.
He has been blamed for allowing hawkers to operate freely leading to the accumulation of garbage in city streets but in his defence, Sonko stated that he inherited a non-functional county government.
"Sad that our clean-up campaign is being sabotaged by cartels. We're dismantling the illegal, parallel garbage collecting operation.
"Anyone found soliciting the services of these vicious cartels may risk having their business licences revoked!" stated Sonko.
In December 2017, word went round that the governor had fallen out with his deputy Polycarp Igathe but he dismissed the allegations.
Mr Sonko took to social media to prove that his working relationship with Mr Igathe is intact.
He uploaded on his Facebook page a series of phone messages he had exchanged with his deputy, eliciting mixed reactions from online users.
“Looking at the attached texts and WhatsApp conversations does it look like we are falling apart?” He posted.
In another post, the Governor claimed a local newspaper was blackmailing his government because he "refused to prequalify their proxy companies to do supplies in Nairobi County".
