NASA Politician Who was Once Top 3 in Miss World Kenya

Miss World Kenya is a national pageant in Kenya whose winner represents the country at Miss World contest.

Over the years, several beauty queens have emerged from the event and have later ventured into different careers to impact Kenya and the world at large.

Interestingly, current Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris once contested for Miss Kenya and was a runner-up.

Passaris contested in 1991 but did not get the ultimate crown which went to Nkirote Karimi M’Mbijjiwe, daughter of the late Agriculture Cabinet Minister Gilbert Kabeere M'Mbijiwe.

She has since taken up several projects totally unrelated to pageantry and politics has to be one of her biggest achievements.

Having previously vied for the Embakasi parliamentary seat and lost, Passaris took on Jubilee Party's Rachael Shebesh for the Nairobi Woman Representative seat in the August 2017 elections and emerged victorious.

In 2017, the Adopt-a-Light founder was one of the guests during Miss World Kenya where she promised to work with previous winners.

“We will come up with a model to absorb some of the previous winners into the secretariat.

"I am sure they will add value to our Secretariat with their ideas, input and support the projects initiated by the secretariat,” stated Passaris during the event that was held in Westlands in September.

Magline Jeruto emerged the winner and later represented the country in China where she became 5th at the Miss World Pageant.
