Lawyer Donald Kipkorir, in reaction to the surprise resignation of Polycarp Igathe as Nairobi County Deputy Governor, called for Governor Mike Sonko to exercise his sole prerogative and replace Igathe with either Agnes Kagure or Joanne Mwangi.
Taking to Twitter, Mr Kipkorir stated: "I urge Governor Mike Sonko to exercise his sole prerogative & appoint either Agnes Kagure or Joanne Mwangi as his Deputy ... He won’t regret."
The 2010 Constitution, as was noted by Kipkorir, has no provision for the appointment of a Deputy Governor, putting Governor Sonko in a tight spot.
Agnes Kagure is a businesswoman and Jubilee Party activist who was embroiled in a protracted court battle over Sh500 million property in Karen and Upper Hill belonging to Mr Roger Robson, a deceased Kenyan of British descent.
Ms Kagure alleged to have bought the property from Mr Robson in November 2011 for Sh100 million in cash, but Robson's lawyer disputed this and claimed it was a brazen land grab.

Joanne Mwangi, on the other hand, is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Professional Marketing Services (PMS), a reputable marketing firm that has been in business for over 19 years.
In 2010, PMS Group became the first woman-owned business to be ranked top on the list of Top 100 SMEs in Kenya.
Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr. also called for constitutional amendments to decide the path to be taken if a Deputy Governor resigns or if a Governor dies as was witnessed in Nyeri County.
"Igathe’s resignation is hardly surprising. Governor Sonko will serve for the remainder of the term without a deputy unless the cartels are planning an impeachment.
"Constitutional amendments to address the Nyeri and Nairobi county dilemma are inevitable" the Senator conveyed.
