One Thing Babu Owino Wants Nairobians to Give Sonko

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino on Tuesday asked Nairobi residents to give Governor Mike Sonko time to deliver.

The governor has been on the spot recently after the resignation of Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe but would not have expected such a statement from Babu.

"Leaders are chosen by God. Nairobians should give Sonko time to deliver," wrote the legislator.

Sonko has been under pressure of late to clean up the city as residents have complained of heaps of garbage right in the CBD.

The governor has also been trying to restore sanity in the county government where millions were being lost daily.

On Monday, he filed a suit at the High Court to stop payments to all creditors.

According to him, the move was aimed at allowing an audit of pending bills amounting to Sh60 Billion.

Sonko also stated that he may not reconcile with Igathe as he is capable of running the county alone.

Speaking for the first time on Monday since Mr Igathe tendered his resignation, Sonko remained non-committal on the matter.

“Dialogue over what? Currently, I have a competent team of technocrats, including professors, who I’m working with.

"I have no fear or doubt that my team will fulfil the promises I made to the Nairobi people," stated Sonko in Mombasa.
