15 Nairobi MCAs Kicked off Plane

There was drama on Monday night at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after 15 Members of the Nairobi County Assembly were kicked off a plane.

The MCAs who were on their way to an investor meeting in Mombasa were forced out of the plane after causing a disturbance.

Video footage which emerged online showed the legislators who had booked a flight on Fly540 confronting airport officials.

According to the MCAs, one of their colleagues arrived late for the flight and efforts to have the flight delayed for her were futile as the crew insisted on punctuality.

The MCAs were forced to alight and the flight took off to avoid inconveniencing the rest of the passengers.

"There was a lack of professionalism with the staff. They harassed me and called me names and I was just trying to explain myself," Ziwani MCA Millicent Mugadi told the media.

Thereafter, confrontations ensued as the City legislators tried to film the employees.

The MCAs were forced to reschedule their travel plans and filed a complaint with the airport authority.

According to the Star, the MCAs were arrested following the misunderstanding.

Earlier last week, Taita Taveta MCAs engaged in a fist fight moments after they had debated the People's Assembly motion.

The fight erupted at the county assembly hall soon after the ward representatives debated and passed the motion instituted by National Super Alliance (NASA).

The motion seeks to create a People's Assembly at the devolved units.
