Governor Joyce Laboso Requests Uhuru to Appoint Isaac Ruto to Cabinet

Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso on Sunday requested President Uhuru Kenyatta to appoint former Governor Isaac Ruto to the Cabinet.

Speaking in Chepalungu on Sunday, the Governor noted that his predecessor had vast experience and could be an asset to his government.

The former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly vowed to campaign for Ruto until he gets appointed to government.

"Find something at least for him. We are not selfish people, we are not sadists to wish that anyone perishes. We want as many of Bomet people to get an opportunity wherever they can.

"I will support him in any way I can to ensure he gets something worthwhile and I have told him as much. He knows that I support him,” she stated.

Regarding claims by a section of leaders from the region that the President had sidelined them in the cabinet appointments, Laboso noted that the government would not forget the Bomet people.

“We will talk to Deputy President William Ruto, but we know he has not forgotten about us. You know he loves us, he loves Bomet and he has some plans for us,” Laboso was quoted by The Nation.

The move came as a surprise since the ex-governor and Laboso were fierce rivals during the campaigns that saw the former National Super Alliance (NASA) principal kicked out.

Meanwhile, a group of leaders from the county on Saturday noted that they had overwhelmingly supported President Kenyatta's re-election but the same was not reflected in the cabinet appointments.

Bomet Woman Rep Joyce Korir asked the Jubilee government to consider the region in other jobs.

“As disgruntled Jubilee leaders from the region, we are shocked that not even a single position of Cabinet Secretary (CS) or Principal Secretary (PS) was given to us.

"We now demand to be given a Cabinet slot as we are equal to the opportunities being shared,” she stated.
