Kalonzo's Security Detail Withdrawn

National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka on Tuesday revealed that his security detail had been withdrawn.

Speaking from his Karen home, Kalonzo stated that the five GSU officers assigned to him had been ordered to pack and go.

“Every security detail was taken away. But this is a very important struggle and we are still consulting.

"The media is seriously under attack and now the remaining security detail assigned to us has been taken away. These are matters we must tell our people,” stated Musyoka, who was accompanied by Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua and Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana.

Live footage from his residence showed a GSU lorry driving into his compound but it is not yet clear whether it had come to collect the belongings of the officers.

Mr Musyoka also condemned the media shutdown, stating that it was an act of dictatorship.

He further urged NASA supporters to remain calm and steer clear of any acts of violence.

"We don't understand the panic. NASA supporters should remain calm

"No NASA supporter should carry out any act of violence. In fact, they should carry white handkerchiefs," he remarked.

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi praised the president minutes after the Communications Authority shut down media houses’ signals.

In a tweet on his official Twitter account, the controversial political analyst told the President to deal with the Kenyan media once and for all.

“Today is the day of the coup. Uhuru should show Raila no mercy because Raila will show him none. He should also fix the crooked media once and for all,” read the tweet.
