Government Cracks Down on Kalonzo and Mudavadi

The government on Thursday cracked down on National Super Alliance (NASA) Principals  Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi by revoking their firearm licenses.

During a press conference at Okoa Kenya offices in Nairobi, Mr Mudavadi told journalists that he had received a letter informing him that his license had been revoked.

“I have owned a firearm since 1993. And I am a proper citizen. In those years, I have never used it once, in any incident. Then, out of the blue, they write to me now to revoke that license,” he lamented.

On his part, Kalonzo explained that the government was unfairly targetting him jeopardizing his security and that of his family in light of the recent attack at his home.

“They first took away my security, then my home was attacked with a hand grenade and two bullets shot from an AK47 the next day.

"Now they have come for the last thing I could use to defend myself,” the Wiper leader stated.

This action comes after Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Simba Arati had his firearm license revoked.

On Thursday, the Firearms Licensing Board (FLB) withdrew the permit and asked Arati to surrender his pistol and shotgun by close of business the same day.

The body’s boss, Samuel Kimaru, remarked that Arati was unfit to be trusted with a firearm.

“In accordance with the Provisions of the Firearms Act Cap 114 Laws of Kenya your Firearm Certificate No. 10242 issued to you on 12 November 2015 is in effect from the date of this notice, revoked.

Meanwhile, police officers on Friday morning raided the Runda home of self-proclaimed General of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Miguna Miguna.

Reports indicate that the lawyer, who was at home at the time, was later apprehended for witnessing the oath taking of NASA leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday.
