Uhuru Orders Journalists Out of His Event [VIDEO]

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday attended the launch of police service Standing Orders, Career Progression Guidelines, Revised Police Basic Training Curriculum at the Kenya School of Government.

After his speech to the delegates present, the Head of State ordered journalists to pack their cameras and leave the room.

This comes after the government, through the Cabinet Secretary of Interior Security Fred Matiang'i, ordered for a media shutdown on Tuesday morning.

Uhuru had reportedly warned the media from having a live coverage of the swearing-in of the National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga.

However, State House Director Digital, Innovations & Diaspora Communications, Dennis Itumbi, explained that the President did so as he was to have a closed-door meeting.

During the event, Kenyatta promised that his government will ensure police officers have better living and working conditions.

He also praised them for the good work they have been doing since last year during the General Election.

Although the court ordered the government to have the three media houses, Citizen TV and Radio, NTV and KTN News, signals restored, they are yet to do so.

Activist Okiya Omtatah on Friday explained that his attempt to serve the Communications Authority with the order was sabotaged as he was denied access to the premises.

"They have denied me access at CA, my people and I were kicked out of the area and they are saying that I have no right to issue the orders at the premises," he conveyed.
