Miguna Allegedly Denied Medication by Police

Police at Lari Police Station, Kiambu County are alleged to have denied self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) General Miguna Miguna an inhaler and access to a doctor after he suffered an asthma attack.

According to former Nairobi Senatorial aspirant and member of Miguna's legal team Edwin Sifuna, the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Lari turned hostile and refused to let him give Miguna the medication despite having carried an inhaler.

Sifuna confirmed the incident after a Twitter user disclosed that Miguna had an asthma attack and claimed that police had received orders from above not to allow him access to a Doctor or his lawyer.

"Its true. We recieved info that Miguna has suffered an Asthma attack. I have with me an inhaler but the OCS has become hostile.

"He wont let me see my client to give him the medication," Sifuna stated in response.

Miguna was arrested and re-arrested on Friday evening.

After his first arrest, Judge James Wakiaga of the High Court ordered for Miguna's release on Sh50, 000 bail pending the hearing of his case.

He added that the order was to be served personally to Inspector-General Joseph Boinnet for it to be effected.

Sifuna claimed that police were given orders from above not to comply with the court order.

Miguna was put back in the cells at Githunguri Police Station.
