SportPesa runs the Mega Jackpot games every weekend which will start over again at Sh100 Million and the amount keeps increasing weekly until someone wins by correctly predicting the outcome of 17 games.

Four other winners will walk away with Sh6 million, Sh265,250, Sh40,136 and Sh11,157 for correctly predicting 15, 14, 13 and 12 scores, respectively.

In May 2017, three winners correctly predicted 17 games and took home Sh37 Million each.

Florence Machogu, a 60-year-old mother of six from Molo, Nakuru County, was among the winners and became the third woman to win the SportPesa Jackpot.

In July 2017, SportPesa announced that it would shut down operations in Kenya if the law on 35 percent tax increase on betting signed by President Uhuru Kenyatta was implemented.

SportPesa Global Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Gerasim Nikolov stated the company could not operate profitably in the country under the current tax regime.

“There is nowhere in the world where such a huge tax is levied on turnovers and even here in Kenya, no firm can survive today if a 35 percent tax was put on its turnover,” he remarked.

He added: "Unfortunately, the ultimate effect of us shifting operations from here will be wide considering the various businesses that depend on this industry.”
