Boni Khalwale Praised for his Role After Miguna Miguna's Deportation

Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale on Friday received praises from Kenyans on social media for the actions he took on the Canadian Government hours before NRM General Miguna Miguna was deported.

While Miguna was detained, the Ford Kenya Deputy Party leader sharply condemned the Canadian Government for their silence on Miguna's arrest and detention to the extent that he made a call at the Embassy to inquire about the same.

According to several Kenyans on Twitter, Canada had no option but to ensure its Citizen back after Khalwale informed them of the problems Miguna was undergoing in Kenya

"After @KBonimtetezi informed Canadian Embassy of the problems its citizen @MigunaMiguna was going through in a foreign land Kenya, Canada had no option but to ensure its citizen gets back home," one of the Twitter users stated.

The former Senator also commented on the matter stating that although he condemns the Government's move to strip Miguna's citizenship, he was pleased if the Canadian Government acted on his call.

On Tuesday, he had explained that the Canadian Embassy professed their knowledge on the charges Miguna was facing in Kenya but declined to indicate the action it would take against the ongoing case.

"I've just called & talked to a Ms Fiona, the Consular Department manager, who has confirmed to me that they are aware of the matter of their Canadian citizen by the name of Miguna Miguna, but declined to disclose exactly what it is that they are doing about it!," he stated through his Twitter account.

A day before, he had criticised the western nation over its failure to pressurize for the release of the former Nairobi Gubernatorial candidate.

"My understanding is that our brother, Miguna Miguna holds a dual Kenya/Canadian citizenship.

"Even if they cared less about us Kenyans, at least the western world should've pressurized for the immediate release of a Canadian. Hypocrites!," he stated.
