  • President Uhuru Kenyatta has on Tuesday nominated Prof Olive Mugenda to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

Mugenda stepped down as the Vice-Chancellor of KU in April 2016, and at the end of her term called on those who would take over to maintain her legacy.

During her tenure, Prof Mugenda was applauded for raising the Kenyatta University to world-class status due to the vast development witnessed.

Prof Mugenda served at the university for ten years before retiring from management.

The Head of State nominated the former Kenyatta University Vice-Chancellor alongside Patrick Gichohi and Felix Koskei to the JSC.

Mr Gichohi, Commissioner of the Public Service Commission (PSC), has previously served as a Parliamentary Officer for 33 years having been recruited in 1979 as a Parliamentary Clerk Trainee by the Public Service Commission.

Felix Kosgei was in 2013 nominated by President Kenyatta as Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries.

Their nominations come after Kenyatta announced that  Attorney General Githu Muigai had resigned.

Through his Twitter page, Kenyatta stated:- "I have received with regret the resignation of Attorney General Prof Githu Muigai.

The President added, "I thank him for his service for the last six and a half years. I have nominated as his replacement Judge Paul Kihara Kariuki."

Kenyatta also nominated Kennedy Ogeto as Solicitor General and appointed Njee Muturi as Deputy Chief of Staff.
