NASA MPs Gang Up Against Kalonzo

Legislators from three Opposition parties have taken on Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM-K) Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka after he wrote to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Justin Muturi, concerning the allocation of the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) slots.

The 15 lawmakers accused Wiper and its leaders of disregarding the agreed upon distribution of house leadership positions within NASA.

Kalonzo wrote to the Speaker as Party leader, noting that Wiper had fronted Borabu MP Ben Momanyi as their PSC nominee.

It later emerged that there might have been some collusion between Jubilee Party MPs and Wiper legislators to back Momanyi and reject some names submitted by the opposition.

The 15 MPs have threatened to 'redefine' their relationship with Wiper in the house.

Self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) General Miguna Miguna, on Monday, sent out a warning to Kalonzo to stop 'undermining the will of the people'.

"A stern warning to NASA affiliate "parties" especially Wiper Democratic Party- Kenya.

"Stop conspiring with the Jubilee Party despots to undermine the popular will of the people - in Parliament & elsewhere. Kalonzo Musyoka," Miguna, who was last week deported to Canada.

Wiper Deputy leader Farah Maalim on Sunday stated that NASA was crumbling following the swearing-in of Raila Odinga as People's President on January 30.

“I don’t see Kalonzo being sworn in... It is a pity... I would have loved if he (Kalonzo) had taken a firm position from the word go and said, 'sorry I am a lawyer I don’t want to do this',” Maalim stated.
