Nairobi Police Boss Japheth Koome Replaced

Nairobi Police Commander Japheth Koome has been appointed Principal Deputy Inspector-General as part of a new reshuffle in the National Police Service (NPS).

Koome became familiar to many Kenyans in 2017 as he made headlines for clashing with the National Super Alliance (NASA) severally.

Taking over from him will be Joseph Ole Tito who was the Anti Stock-Theft Unit (ASTU) Commandant.

Joseph Odi, who was previously the General Staff Officer, will take over from Ole Tito at ASTU.

On the other hand, King'ori Mwangi will be the new commandant in Kiganjo, the police service's main training base.

Mwangi has been serving as Principal Deputy to the Deputy Inspector General (DIG).

Julius Kitili, previously the Director of Reforms, has been appointed as Western Regional Commander.

Director of Personnel, Boniface Maingi, has also been affected by the changes after being moved to police headquarters.

Noah Mwivanda, Director Community Policing, Children and Gender will replace Nelson Marwa as Coast Regional Commissioner.

Marwa was recently appointed to President Uhuru Kenyatta's cabinet as a Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Devolution.
