Nelson Marwa Appointed Principal Secretary

President Uhuru Kenyatta named his full cabinet on Friday and Coast regional coordinator, Nelson Marwa, was a lucky man being named the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Devolution.

Marwa has been one of the prominent figures in Kenya's fight against Al Shabaab militia and there was speculation in the past few months that he would be rewarded with a new government position.

In December, the police boss had asked Kenyans to let the Head of State do his job as it was wrong to speculate but stated that he was ready.

"I am always ready for any task so long as it is for the interest of Kenyans and our country," he remarked.

Marwa has often been in the thick of things and last week ordered for the closure of all strip clubs in Mombasa.

Speaking to the press, Marwa stated that Mombasa has adequate officers who will ensure that the order is implemented.

According to him, the clubs have a tendency of allowing minors to access strippers’ sections which is against the law.

He highlighted that they shall not watch as the moral of the county gets degraded.

Recently, the Coast Regional Coordinator was sued by Mombasa Speaker of the County Assembly, Aharub Khatri, after he called him a suspected drug baron.

Judge Njoki Mwangi, however, struck out Marwa's name from the suit, stating that he had uttered the words as a public officer and not at a personal level.
