Ignore Atwoli's Cheap Gimmicks - Wetangula Tells Luhyas

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has urged the Luhya community to ignore COTU boss Francis Atwoli's efforts to unite them terming them as gimmicks.

The NASA co-principal maintained that the strategy employed by Atwoli will leave Luhyas more divided than before.

Wetangula stated that Atwoli cannot imply to have held a meeting for Mulembe elders in the absence of elected leaders from different parts of the country.

"Where were elected Luhyas from Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, and Nairobi? They don't matter?" Wetangula questioned.

"Ignore Atwoli's cheap gimmicks with a handful of imposters and masquerades that will not solve the Mulembe unity issues. He is a turncoat we should ignore," he added.

Atwoli had hosted Mulembe leaders at his home to discuss the way forward for 2022 politics on Sunday, however, Wetangula was a no-show at the meeting.

After the meeting, the elders announced they had resolved that ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi was to remain as the community's spokesperson.

Atwoli also retracted his earlier statement about withdrawing his support for Mudavadi after the ANC party leader skipped the 'swearing-in' of NASA leader Raila Odinga.

"You all can remember what I stated after the January 30 event. That was my opinion. After talking with other elders, we have agreed that my brother here still has our support," Atwoli maintained.

He added: "We have faith in Mudavadi's leadership... the elders can withdraw their support after assembling the over 1 million Kenyans."
