Ababu Namwamba Struggling to get new Office

Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ababu Namwamba, is yet to take up the role President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed him for.

Office space has been the major hindrance for Mr Namwamba owing to the fact that Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma had not taken the oath of office until Friday.

"It will now be easy to get space because CS Dr Monica Juma has been sworn in," an official at the Ministry explained.

Namwamba's counterparts in various other ministries including former Nairobi Woman Representative, Rachel Shebesh, (CAS Public Service, Youth and Gender) are said to be in a similar predicament.

Lands CAS Gideon Mung'aro told journalists that space within Afya House was being renovated to serve as his office.

"I hope it will be ready by Monday (February 26) so that I can help the Land Secretary deliver the Jubilee agenda as outlined by the President.

"I didn’t go there the whole of last week and the week before because there was no space," the official stated.

National Treasury seems to have been well-prepared to receive the new official who has been working since he was appointed.

"The office I got was vacant so I didn’t have problems. I have been reporting daily and even now, I am overseeing the preparation of supplementary budget before it is taken to the National Assembly after concluding the budget policy statement," CAS Nelson Gaichuhie conveyed.

President Kenyatta appointed 12 CASs and 22 Cabinet Secretaries to his second term cabinet. He explained that the remaining 20 ministries would also receive CASs to assist in achieving the Big Four agenda.
