The East African President Uhuru Should Avoid - Kenyans Warn

Kenyans on Thursday warned President Uhuru Kenyatta against associating with Tanzania's President John Magafuli, whom some termed as a hypocrite.

President Kenyatta, who had travelled to Uganda for the East African Community (EAC) summit meeting, was pictured alongside his Tanzanian counterpart, reviving debates over the frosty relations between the two nations.

President Magufuli's regime has on two separate occasions burnt chicks imported from Kenya and in another occasion auctioned off cattle belonging to Kenyan herders after the livestock crossed the border into Tanzania.

The photo that elicited a number of angry reactions captured President Kenyatta holding hands with President Magufuli and South Sudan's Salva Kiir as the three laughed heartily.

Some of President Kenyatta's followers lauded him for his jovial demeanour, registering their appreciation, while others raised alarm over the company he was in.

President Kenyatta's followers hit out at President Kiir, accusing him of not being keen to facilitate development projects for his people.

A Twitter user, @MaghokMakoi posted: "Salva Kiir always travels abroad and comes back without infrastructure and financial reform."

@kingchege observed: "The uniting factor. I like the holding of hands. What a positive compromising aspect. What's important in a leader is to build bridges, while at home we are giving travel advisory to South Sudan. Are you seeing a peace-loving leader?"

President Kenyatta delivered a keynote address to the assembly as he outlined various gains the region has experienced on financing infrastructure and health.

Here are some of the comments social media followers of the Kenyan President shared.
