Linus Kaikai Allegedly Fired From Nation Media Group

Linus Kaikai has left his role as General Manager of NTV.

Sources speaking exclusively to Kenyans.co.ke revealed that Kaikai was served with a letter relieving him of his duties last week on Friday.

It was also reported that he has not been seen at his office for the past few days, fueling speculation that he is no longer with NMG.

It is alleged that he was spotted at Nation Centre on Monday, casually dressed, in what looked like a process of clearing with management.

Another source confirmed the same, stating that several editorial changes have already been made by the Editor-in-Chief, Tom Mshindi.

"Signs that he was headed for the exit door – one way or the other – became clear when Nation Media Group (NMG) recently effected editorial changes during which he (Tom Mshindi) promoted Pamela Asigi to the position of NTV Editor with a caveat that she would be reporting directly to him.

"In addition, Kaikai’s long-serving personal secretary was redeployed to Mshindi’s office," stated the source.

Our efforts to reach Kaikai did not bear fruit as his phone was off.

Last week, he denied claims that he was planning to leave NTV and join Royal Media Services that owns Citizen TV.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the media boss stated that he was not aware of any job offers made to him to join the rival station as the Chief Operations Officer.

Prior to that, Business Today had reported that Mr Kaikai was set to take over Farida Karoney's job after she was nominated for the Lands docket by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The report further alleged that Kaikai's supposed move was propelled by the recent media shutdown that saw him and two others seek protection from the courts.
