Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Monday defended his stand on working with National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders in the county to deliver services to the city residents.
Speaking during the opening of the Nairobi City County induction on City Inspectorate, disaster management and security compliance at the Flamingo beach hotel, the Governor stated that the time for politics was over.
"Watu wawache siasa ya pesa nane na mdomo mingi ati Sonko anapenda kufanya kazi na NASA. Ati ooh mara Sonko anaongea na Joho ooh mara Sonko anatembea na NASA mcas. Musilitee bana hata Raila na President Uhuru wanaenda Church pamoja.
(Which loosely translates to: People should stop with the party politics suggesting that I (Sonko like working with NASA. They say I was spotted with Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and later with NASA MCAs. Even Raila and Uhuru go to church together)" he explained.

He added that reaching across the political divide was important to serve the people objectively.
"Since the campaign period is over as leaders we must unite the people we serve by mainly focussing on service delivery irrespective of our political, tribal or religious affiliations," he conveyed.
Earlier on Monday, Sonko announced that the first kidney transplant would take place visit this week at Mbagathi Hospital Theater - which is a county-run hospital.
"The lead surgeons from India will train four local doctors so that they can carry on with the operations.
"It is indeed good news for Kenyans that Mbagathi Hospital can now perform kidney transplants on Kenyans. It is unfortunate that majority of Kenyans with kidney dysfunctions seek transplants abroad, which is costly," he stated.

Following his announcement, Kenyans challenged the governor on why he was importing surgeons while there were qualified personnel in Kenya.
"Why from India to teach Kenyan doctors yet in Kenya we already have nephrologists who are already performing the transplant and are very competent..... Mr. Governor think about this," one user noted.
