Trans Nzoia Governor's Office Locks Out County Workers

Trans Nzoia County Governor's office made good its promise after locking out over 70 workers who reported to work late.

The workers, who came to work after 8 am on Tuesday, found the gates closed five minutes after reporting time.

According to Deputy Governor Dr Stanley Tarus Kenei, most of those who worked at the county offices never show up on time and they purposely locked the gates to teach the workers a lesson.

Dr Kenei maintained that the county would not tolerate laziness at work especially since they had a mandate to deliver to the residents.

The late workers were served with letters of admonishing as a warning and the Deputy Governor cautioned that those found slacking would face the axe.

“Those whose offices were still unoccupied as at the time we locked the gate will receive disciplinary letters to explain why they were late to work," Dr Kenei stated.

He further maintained that since this was their last term in office they were inclined to leave a legacy for the people of Trans Nzoia.

“Any staff who is not ready to work will be sacked and we’ll bring in young energetic people who are ready to work. We are not playing around, and those who cannot keep up with our speed are free to leave,” Dr Kenei maintained.

He further stated that the county would be making changes to the county health department to avoid rising cases of theft of materials in the docket.

“We are also going to be making a lot of reshuffles in health as we want accountability and transparency. We do not want any more cases of missing medicine or the sick being told there are no lab services,” Dr Kenei told journalists.
