Salim Lone Reveals the 1 Thing That May See Dialogue Aborted

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga's adviser Salim Lone has revealed the one reason that may see him ditch talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

According to Lone, the Raila-Uhuru deal forms part of the continued fight for the goals his base ardently seeks and Raila would immediately call off the dialogue if it fails to yield results as envisioned by their supporters.

Lone stated that the dialogue was informed by the need to "deliver the desperately needed political and economic reforms."

"Raila decided he would meet Uhuru in an effort to achieve a peaceful settlement to the divisions that have been ripping Kenya apart despite the adoption of the 2010 Constitution."

The adviser further exalted the NASA leader for consistently challenging the status quo over the years without being compromised.

Defending the decision by Raila to begin an initiative of national reform and reconciliation with Uhuru, Lone admitted that the seven months of protests and mobilization had made little serious headway in achieving its goals.

"Those who want meaningful change in Kenya should support the cooperation which Uhuru and Raila have begun.

"Millions in the movement recognize that Kenya's future requires the dialogue succeed," Lone concluded.

He further stated that there was a need to respect all those who genuinely disagree with Raila in "his last great effort for a much better Kenya", including Kalonzo Musyoka, who he observed had previously stood firm with Raila through "two tough election cycles."

Making reference to the possible neutralization of other political leaders following the deal, Lone stated that although such eventualities are possible, this was not the motivation of the initiative.
