NASA Senators Meeting to Kick Out Wetangula

National Super Alliance Senators will be meeting on Monday to officially pick a replacement for Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula.

NASA's Senate Parliamentary Group meeting will be seeking to regularise Senator James Orengo’s nomination to the position of Minority Leader which is held by Wetangula.

A NASA Senator who spoke to the Daily Nation revealed that the parliamentary group meeting will be held at County Hall, within Parliament buildings.

The Senator is quoted having stated:“NASA senators have agreed that we meet on Monday to consider the resolution passed by ODM.”

The meeting by NASA Senators come as coalition leaders Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi plan to co-chair another parliamentary group meeting on Tuesday to save Wetangula.

ODM's decision to nominate Siaya Senator James Orengo as minority leader may already have been made by and communicated to the Speaker Kenneth Lusaka by the time the coalition's Principals meet.

On Thursday, ODM’s decision to oust Wetangula was communicated to Lusaka who ruled that though the party had resolved to have the Bungoma Senator removed as minority leader was valid, his dismissal would be suspended as the election of his replacement was not procedural.

The Senators accused Wetangula of being arrogant towards coalition partners and colleagues.

In their argument, the Senators noted that Wetangula's worst crime was his failure to attend Raila’s “swearing in” as the people’s president at Uhuru Park on January 30.

Senators supporting Orengo stated that he has done a lot for the coalition including his contribution in the petition that saw the August 8, 2017 presidential election nullified.
