John Allan Namu Denies Playing Role in Uhuru's Campaigns

Investigative journalist John Allan Namu on Wednesday came out to clarify that he played no role in campaigning for President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Namu stated that he was aware of the allegations leveled against him terming them defamatory.

He also took to Twitter to explain how Africa Uncensored, an independent media house set up by Kenya's finest investigative journalists, conducts unbiased research.

"Our alleged role is being linked to our own coverage of the 2017 electioneering period; specifically, our decision to tally results of the Presidential election in the nullified August poll, and the October 26th poll which was boycotted by the opposition candidate, Raila Odinga.

"We are not related in any way, nor have we worked with or ever intend to work with Cambridge Analytica, any of its local partners if they exist, or indeed any firm whose tactics are clearly meant to harm the public interest.

On the alleged partnership with journalist Alex Chamwada, Namu clarified that he had never worked with the renowned journalist and neither does he drive a Range Rover that he was allegedly gifted.

"I do not own a Range Rover, nor do any of the members of my immediate family. Standing in front of a car does not mean that a person owns it.

"I have repeatedly stated this, but given that the story was mischaracterized by gossip blogs who have no interest in finding," he wrote.

He further revealed that they were denied access to the IEBC servers despite several attempts to make public the election results.

"We asked IEBC CEO @ezraCHILOBA for access to server data in order to verify, as far as possible, whether the results reflected in the documents we used to create our tally were indeed correct.

"Following this verbal request, we again wrote to the IEBC on the 17th of October to officially request for all servers logs and KIEMS data.

"We have not been granted access to this data to date," he added.
