Martha Karua Criticizes DP Ruto After Easter Message

Former Gichugu Member of Parliament Martha Karua on Friday slammed Deputy President William Ruto moments after sending out his Easter message.

The DP had urged Kenyans to remember Christ's sacrifice for humanity but Karua was quick to remind him of the ongoing Miguna Miguna saga.

"In remembrance of Christ's ultimate sacrifice, we reaffirm God's preeminence in our lives and surrender our being to Him.

"Through His enduring mercies, grace and favour, we testify to restoration, reconciliation and an abundance of goodness in our land," wrote Ruto.

Karua responded:"Walk the talk by facilitating #MigunaMigunaReturns."

Miguna was forcefully taken to Dubai on Wednesday night on grounds that he had renounced Kenyan citizenship.

Despite an order by Justice George Odunga to release the lawyer, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, Inspector-General of Police Joseph Boinnet and Immigration PS Gordon Kihalangwa all failed to appear in court and were slapped with a Ksh200,000 fine.

Delivering the ruling at Milimani Law Courts, Judge Odunga wondered why the government officials had failed to show up in court or get in touch with their lawyers, describing it as a  'display of arrogance'.

"The respondents are in charge of security systems in the country, if they have no knowledge of the events that have been widely covered by the media then they do not deserve to hold such office," Odunga stated.

He further noted that they had acted in contravention of the oath they took and stated that they had disregarded Article 74 of the Constitution which addresses the conduct of public officers.

Odunga also stated that the trio had no regard for the law and asserted that orders for their arrest would be difficult to execute as their juniors would be the ones tasked with the job.
