Gov't Announces How Miguna Can Return to Kenya from Canada

A few hours after it emerged that the self-styled National Resistance Movement (NRM) General Miguna Miguna had traveled back to Canada from Dubai, the government has disclosed the what it would take for Miguna to return to Kenya.

On Monday, the head of Presidential Strategic Communications Unit (PSCU) Dennis Itumbi revealed that Miguna would have to check into Kenyan High Commission in Canada and fill relevant forms to facilitate his travel back to Nairobi.

Itumbi indicated that once in Nairobi on his Canadian passport, Miguna would have to agree to use a Visa condition for entry.

Miguna will "then process relevant documents from Kenyan soil - Huduma Centre would be of help," Itumbi added in likely reference to acquisition of his passport which was perforated by the immigration authorities.

He further alleged that Miguna left Dubai after he was cornered by United Arab Emirates (UAE) government authorites who told him that he would have to either have to travel back to Canada or face a jail term.

According to Itumbi, one of Miguna's lawyers had his passport which he had earlier on indicated had been lost during the fracas at JKIA.

"UAE told the Canadian Consulate General in Dubai to speak to Miguna and there were two options; Produce Canadian passport which was his travelling document or jail," Itumbi posted on Facebook.

His lawyer Nelson Havi, however, contradicted the information indicating that Miguna had traveled out of his own volition with the assistance of the Canadian Consulate in UAE.

Havi indicated that once in Toronto, Miguna would undergo "toxicology tests and treatment for the chemicals used to sedate and poison him," and thereafter return to Kenya.

It is not yet clear how the passport was transported to Miguna in Dubai to facilitate his travel back to Canada with Itumbi noting; "Confirming the obvious, Miguna did not travel with an ID."
