Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho Responds to Questions on His Whereabouts

Kenyans, specifically Mombasa residents, have over the past week questioned the whereabouts of Governor Hassan Joho who was out of the country for the better part of March.

Joho left for Estonia earlier in the month on benchmarking tour aimed at securing partnerships and funding in tourism and e-governance for his county.

He posted photos on his Instagram page engaging in fun activities among them ice fishing and taking selfies standing next to a motorized sled.

Kenyans.co.ke has established that the Mombasa governor flew back into the country over the Easter holiday.

On April 1, Joho posted on his Instagram a picture of him in the office.

Joho’s Director of Communication, Richard Chacha explained that the Governor was back in the country and had already started working to serve Mombasa residents.

"Joho will be attending the devolution conference that will be held in Kakamega later in April," Chacha told Kenyans.co.ke on the phone.

He further addressed claims by politician Miguna Miguna that Governor Joho did not visit him while in hospital in Dubai.

"There were plans to visit Miguna but there was so much activity happening around Miguna that the Governor was not able to check up on him," he explained.

On Saturday, Miguna dismissed having knowledge of the planned visit by the ODM governor.

"Joho has never written to me or called me. I have never received a request either from him or from anyone else that he would like to meet or speak with me," he conveyed.

The governor's silence had started raising eyebrows with a section of the netizens even creating some memes over the issue.
