Interior Ministry Response on Raila Odinga's Statement

The Interior Ministry on Wednesday stated that it would not respond to opposition leader Raila Odinga's statement since they had not authenticated it.

Speaking exclusively to Kenyans.co.ke, the ministry's communication's director Mwenda Njoka maintained: "We can not respond without authenticating if the statement was directly from Mr Odinga."

He further added: "We'll not issue a comprehensive statement since what the CS was talking about is before Parliament."

Raila rebuked CS Fred Matiang'i on Wednesday for going against the spirit and purpose of his unity pact with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The NASA principal condemned Matiang’i for what he termed as "highly irresponsible and reckless statements" against the Judiciary, maintaining that his behaviour exhibited impunity.

Matiang'i affirmed that the government would deal with 'errant' judges when he appeared before the National Assembly Security committee on Tuesday.

His sentiments were echoed by Kikuyu MP Kimani Wa Ichungwa who told Kenyans.co.ke that the judiciary had been infiltrated by a cartel hence they don't act in the interest of Kenyans.

Ichungwa maintained that he supported the CS's remarks adding that legislators will revisit and hold the judiciary accountable.

"I fully support and commend CS Matiang'i for telling the truth. The cartels are there and we shall revisit," the Kikuyu legislator stated.

"I'll be the first to hold them accountable this time and I urge Kenyans to come together and hold the judiciary accountable for any misdoing," he added.
