Patrick Adira, Kilimani area chief in Nairobi was arrested barely 24 hours after Citizen TV aired an interview in which the extremely poor condition of his office was exposed.
In the interview, the Chief revealed that he went about his daily duties in the makeshift mabati (iron sheet) structure that was put up in 2001 with the Coat of Arms held together by pieces of cardboard.
Nairobi County Commissioner Amos Mariba told the press that Adira was arrested on Friday on charges of fraud and that the case had nothing to do with his appearance on television.
He is accused of presenting a fake liquor license to the County Licensing Department on March 6, 2018.
Mariba further disclosed that he was released on bond on condition that he presents the real owner of the license.

He claimed that the case on the fake license was due to be heard on March 26 but Adira failed to show up leading to the issuing of a warrant of arrest against him.
However, sources close to Citizen TV claimed that Adira received a call a day after the interview aired in which he was given a dressing down by the County Commissioner for 'embarrassing' the government.
Adira has been detained at the Central Police Station since Friday and is set to be arraigned in court on Monday.
In the interview, the chief noted that he was passionate about his job and many residents who were happy with the service had donated desks, chairs and cabinets.
“I like what I do. If it was not for the passion I don’t think we could be doing what we do,” he stated.
