President Uhuru Kenyatta's Tweet on Winnie Mandela Excites South Africans

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday morning trended in South Africa following an impressive tweet that was written in Zulu in tribute to Winnie Mandela.

He wrote: Go well heroine, icon, liberator. Lala Ngoxolo. Qhawe lama qhawe (which is Zulu for: Rest in peace. The hero of this warrior).

According to Real-time Johannesburg Twitter trends aggregator, Trendsmap Jo'burg the president's tweet made him trend in the South African capital.

The reactions from South Africans were swift with many commending him for understanding the language.

One user wrote:  ndiyabulela kuwe umongameli yam which is Xhosa for I thank you for my president.

Another commented with Siyabulela which is 'Thank you' in Zulu.

"Amandlaaaaaa Mr. President. Enkosi Tata ungayilibali, usicebise silulutsha leSouth Africa. We salute you Sir. Amandlaaaaaaaaaaaaa. (Power Mr President Thank you Dad, thank you for South Africa's youth. We salute you sir. Power!)" a user wrote in Zulu.

Earlier on Friday, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga and his wife Ida Odinga left the country for South Africa. 

Posting on his Twitter, the NASA principal stated: "H.E Raila Odinga and Mama Ida Odinga departing for Johannesburg, South Africa where they shall be attending the funeral of anti-apartheid icon Winnie Mandela."

Mrs Odinga noted: "The world has lost one of its strongest! A hero, warrior, liberator, while heaven has gained an Angel. R.I.P Mama."
