Marakwet East MP Kangogo Bowen Involved in an Accident

Marakwet East lawmaker David Bowen was involved in a road accident on the Kapsawar-Tot road in his constituency.

Bowen who was in the company of his two children was driving the car heading to a wedding ceremony when they were involved in the accident on Saturday evening.

The vehicle’s brakes are alleged to have failed as the car was moving down a steep descent causing the MP to drift off the road and prevent a collision with other vehicles.

Reports indicate the car tore through a fence on the side of the road and stopped at a nearby farm.

The Marakwet East lawmaker sustained minor injuries while his children, who were in the rear seat, were not hurt.

Bowen was taken to Mediheal Hospital in Eldoret at around 9 pm where he is still undergoing treatment.

Dr Patil Iarag stated that the MP had sustained minor injuries but was out of danger.

The accident comes as the MP prepares to go back to the ballot as his constituency is headed for a by-election after a court sitting in Eldoret nullified results of the August 8, 2017 parliamentary elections.

After his win was annulled the MP is alleged to have insulted Marakwet professionals on social media calling them 'idiots'.
