Beyoncé Coachella 2018 Performance Makes History

American artist Beyoncé Knowles made history as the first woman of color to headline Coachella music festival in Indio, California.

Right before performing her hit single  'Run the World' Beyoncé stated: "Coachella, thank you for allowing me to be the first black woman to headline."

Her performance was one year late as she could not perform in 2017 due to her being pregnant.

The wait was worth it, according to her fans who described the performance as one for the history books nicknaming it #Beychella.

This year's ticket prices ranged from Ksh 43,000 for general admission to almost Ksh100,700  for VIP passes. However, Kenyans were able to watch the performance online via live stream on YouTube on Sunday morning.

Beyoncé's 2- hour performance was dominated by messages of black excellence, women empowerment with a surprise appearance from husband Jay-Z and a reunion performance with Destiny's Child (Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams).

Backed by her jazz band and a troupe of back up dancers, there was never a dull moment as Beyoncé seamlessly transitioned from one song to the next, performing her wardrobe changes in seconds.

As is expected of her performances, the Grammy Awards winner's choreography was mesmerizing as she hit her notes even when dancing.

Kenyans expressed their appreciation online of the performance.

"#Beychella is number one on the Kenyan trending list and the festival ain’t even going on in this country. Beyoncé impact y'all showing the girls how it’s done and she ain’t even released new music yet," one user noted.

"Name one artist alive that puts on a show like this. Hits every note without lip syncing, stays on time with her choreo, transitions so smooth, and performs like 25 different songs from all her different eras," another wrote.
