The Truth About My Statement on Sonko - EX-NCBDA Chair Timothy Muriuki Reveals

Former Nairobi Central District Association (NCBDA) Chairman Timothy Muriuki who was roughed up by men reported to be Governor Mike Sonko's aides on Monday as he prepared to issue a press statement has spoken to Kenyans.co.ke revealing what he planned to address.

Muriuki, who was attacked by several men at the Boulevard Hotel accusing him of  'tarnishing Governor Sonko's name' maintained that he had no such plan.

He told Kenyans.co.ke that his statement was actually in defence of Sonko following several widely-circulated reports that accused him of failing to steer the city properly.

"I was actually planning to defend Sonko, they attacked me saying I wanted to ruin his name," Muriuki stated.

He explained that a lot of the challenges faced by Sonko's administration could be traced back to former Governor Evans Kidero's regime.

He maintained that Sonko had the support of city businessmen and women, calling for residents to give him time to deliver on his promises.

The men who attacked him on Monday stopped him from addressing the press, hauling him away by the collar and even threatening to throw him in the pool.

He was later surrounded by men on motorcycles who encircled him and continued roughing him up.

They pushed him into a puddle of dirty water as curious onlookers watched.

He confirmed to Kenyans.co.ke that he filed a statement at Central Police Station who are investigating the attack.

"Yes I did record a statement at Central yesterday," he affirmed.
