Ahmednasir Advises DPP to Arrest Governor Mike Sonko's Aides After Attack on Timothy Muriuki

Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has advised the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) to arrest men alleged to be governor Mike Sonko's aides for assaulting former Nairobi Central Business District Association (NCBDA) Chairman Timothy Muriuki during a press conference.

In a tweet on Tuesday Ahmednasir stated that violence was unacceptable and called on the DPP to charge the three men who were caught on camera manhandling Muriuki.

"We can't accept violence and brute force to be privatized. That is the sole monopoly of government. The DPP must arrest the thugs and their principal," the Senior Counsel remarked.

"We accepted, internalized and even moved on the spectacular failure of the Sonko regime to do even 1% of what he is supposed to do for Nairobi but we can't accept this thuggery and lawlessness. The DPP must charge the 3 thugs in court," he added.

Ahmednasir was commenting on the issue of Muriuki who was stopped from reading his press statement by three men, who interrupted a press conference on Monday and ejected him from the hotel.

The trio accused Muriuki of planning to tarnish Governor Sonko’s name and prevented him from addressing journalists.

Drama unfolded after they grabbed Muriuki and forcefully led him out of the hotel as he pleaded with them to let him finish reading his statement..

However, the trio would hear none of this and at some point argued among themselves on whether to throw Muriuki into the hotel’s swimming pool.

Muriuki told journalists: “I don’t know why they were harassing me. They must have been briefed that there was a guy who wanted to bash the governor, but as you can see from the statement, I am actually supporting him."

Part of his statement asked the city dwellers to stop blaming the county boss for the current problems facing the city as they were not all caused by Sonko.
