Mutahi Ngunyi's Version of Forgiveness Rubs Kenyans The Wrong Way

During the State of Nation address on Wednesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta apologized and urged Kenyans to join him in mending fences, a gesture that has seen politicians and political analysts alike make an effort to build bridges.

Moments later, Prof Mutahi Ngunyi took to social media to issue his own version of forgiveness.

The controversial political analyst stated that he was ready to forgive all those who abused him during the electioneering period.

His post rubbed Kenyans the wrong way with many noting that the tweet was disingenuous and laced with arrogance.

One user stated: "Not forgiven! Never with that attitude," while another noted: "Hehe. Your forgiveness is Ironical."

"Such mockery of what true forgiveness is. Better to remain silent," one Kenyan suggested.

Others recommended that he should first apologize to Opposition leader Raila Odina:" You insulted Raila too many a time but we've never heard him even mention your name anywhere. So give us a break please Ngunyi. And can u apologize to Raila first?"

Another user challenged Prof Ngunyi: "Confess and return all that you have been paid to peddle propaganda against well-meaning Kenyans for that is what constitutes true apology and repentance."

"Using the B* word negates the whole statement and make you look like a lost sheep. Take a break from Twitter," another recommended.

"With this "apology" you've just confirmed to be what all right-thinking Kenyans knew you are, namely, an evil man, rotten to the core," another stated.
