Governor Mike Sonko Sends Message to Kikuyu Community

An undated video of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko surfaced online on Saturday and he declared that all his 'side dishes' are Kikuyus.

The video was posted by activist Boniface Mwangi and the crowd could be heard cheering him on.

He further adds that he does not have any hate towards Kikuyus as they make a huge chunk of his inner circle.

“People say Sonko hates Kikuyu, it's untrue. I have nominated over 10 Kikuyu MCAs, my wife is a Kikuyu, all my side dishes and inlaws are Kikuyu.

"Even the incoming deputy governor (who is a female) is a Kikuyu. Do you think I hate Kikuyus?" he asked.

Last month, Sonko stated that some politicians from Mt Kenya were holding meetings to shortchange DP William Ruto in the 2022 election.

This did not go down well with leaders from the region who claimed he was falsely accusing them.

“We are aware that some politicians from Mount Kenya have been holding night meetings in Nairobi to craft plans on how to support one of their own in 2022,” he remarked last month.

To silence the critics, in the video, Sonko added that his cabinet has four Kikuyus while the chief of staff and the county secretary are also from the region.

The governor added that it was time to forgive one another and shun tribal politics as the country needed to move forward in the spirit of the handshake.
