Wilson Sossion Blocked From Accessing His KNUT Office [VIDEO]

Drama ensued on Monday at the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) headquarters in Nairobi after ousted secretary-general Wilson Sossion was blocked from accessing his office.

Sossion was barred even after reading court orders to the men blocking him an act he termed unconstitutional.

Addressing journalists outside the KNUT headquarters, the embattled secretary general vowed that he would not be pushed out despite his removal by some officials.

“I will be in the office on Monday. Let anyone attempt to unconstitutionally throw me out of that office, there will be a showdown," Sossion stated.

"I am legally in office. Let them honour the court order that restored me after the unjustified coup,” the nominated ODM legislator added.

On Saturday, a section of the union’s National Executive Council members ousted Sossion and swore in his deputy, Hesbon Otieno, as the acting secretary-general.

KNUT officials drawn from the Rift Valley region advised Sossion to resist any move to remove him unconstitutionally and further warned those behind the plan to oust him to stop it before the Annual Delegates Conference in June or be voted out on that day.

However, teachers in Embu were singing a different tune as they pushed for the Nominated MP’s removal asking him to respect the NEC decision.

Led by Embu KNUT executive secretary Josephat Kathumi, the union members argued that Sossion could still serve teachers and other workers in Parliament even if he was not their spokesman.

The teachers further maintained that Sossion’s dismissal of the NEC’s decision was in bad taste and portrayed him as a person who does not respect institutions.
