Plan to Remove Wilson Sossion as KNUT Sec-Gen Happening Now

Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) delegates’ held a conference on Wednesday where they demanded the ouster of Wilson Sossion as their Secretary-General.

The delegates, who had planned to meet but never announced they will be calling for the ouster of Sossion, chanted and sang songs denouncing the nominated ODM Member of Parliament.

KNUT top brass wrangles deepened as a group of delegates vowed to push for constitutional changes to kick out the ODM Nominated MP.

The notice from the union delegates stated: “KNUT delegates to meet on Wednesday at Ufungamano at 10 am to oust SG Sossion.”

The Union's members stated that elected leaders were urged to quit trade unions by the government and the embattled secretary general was no exemption.

The meeting will come ahead of a press conference by Sossion and he is also expected to respond to the matter.

Sossion, who spoke to Kenyans.co.ke, on Tuesday dismissed claims of his ouster maintaining that he would only leave office if teachers voted him out.

He further pointed a finger at politicians who he alleged sponsored some of the teachers to push for his removal as the union's secretary general.

In 2017, the KNUT annual delegates’ conference in Mombasa was disrupted following sharp political and leadership differences.

The conference quickly escalated into an ugly scene of throwing chairs at each other and police had to be called in to intervene and restore calm.
