Sossion Discloses Government's Secret Agenda of Kicking Him Out

Kenya National Union of Teachers KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion on Sunday disclosed why the government wants him to vacate office as a trade unionist.

Sossion who is also a nominated MP revealed that the state's agenda in kicking him out of the labor movement is aimed at coaching weak leaders who cannot pose a threat to the Jubilee administration.

He noted that government's ideal KNUT official is one who would side with the ruling regime in the implementation of bad policies.

The ODM MP noted that the government started crafting a plan to tame him ever since he led teachers to a countrywide strike in 2015.

He made this statement barely a week after the Labour Cabinet Secretary Phyllis Kandie directed Mr Sossion and other trade union officials to resign as leaders in the union.

Nonetheless, the gazette notice was terminated by the Labour Court after the union leaders filed for an application.

He accused three senior state officials at the Ministry of Labour of liaising with Knut officials from the central region to cause division in the union.

The Knut Secretary-general expressed his concern that the Uhuru led government was getting scared of the influence the trade unionist are likely to wield in Parliament.

“We are a strong team now and ready to push for the welfare of workers, and that is what the government does not want. In Parliament, we have raised our stake, and we will no longer be intimidated by the government or the Teachers Service Commission (TSC),”he was quoted by Nation.
