Pregnant Woman Killed in Sachang'wan Accident

An expectant woman was among two people who were killed on Tuesday morning in an accident at the notorious Sachang'wan blackspot along the Eldoret-Nakuru highway.

Reports indicate that the accident took place a few minutes past midnight when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it rolled several times before landing in a ditch.

The area's MCA Rachel Maru confirmed the incident and stated the injured passengers had been rushed to Nakuru Level Five Hospital.

Residents of the area have urged the government to step in and act since the spot has claimed so many lives in recent times.

Some suggested a standby ambulance to be parked in the area since the place is accident-prone.

In December 2017, at least 25 people were killed in a grisly road accident at the same spot.

Around 13 vehicles were involved in the crash; two trucks, a Land Cruiser, two private cars, lorries, shuttles, and three matatus.

A bus belonging to Modern Coast company heading to Kampala from Nairobi had one side ripped off.

The same area has been in the spotlight for a couple of other tragic accidents leading to deaths of dozens.

During the same December festive period, 36 people perished in another incident leading to the ban on night travel by the National Trasport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
