Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi Reveals Blunder That Exposed NYS Scandal Culprits

Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has revealed what he thinks is a costly mistake that exposed the culprits in the Ksh9 Billion National Youth Service (NYS) heist.

According to Ahmednasir, the looters did not incorporate any foreign experts in the theft saga which deprived the team of crucial technical expertise and knowledge.

"The NYS theft is an ingenious, localized and tribalized corruption," the lawyer noted due to the absence of any "Chinese or foreign experts".

"Why the NYS scandal is reoccurring is primarily because those who pull it are from the lower strata of our society. They lack white collar sophistication!"

Ahmednasir further opined that the NYS heist is not remarkable by any standard: "They are other depts in government where looting is on an industrial scale".

He further advised President Uhuru Kenyatta that going forward, the government should embark on seizing all assets that can't be explained especially those held by wealthy, powerful and corrupt government employees.

"Under the Money Laundering Act... the Attorney General (AG) has this poisonous arrow in the State's quiver (seizing all unexplained assets)."

"If Uhuru is serious about fighting corruption he must address procurement in four departments: the security sector, energy, transport, and communication.

"He must also address procurement in the 47 devolved units (counties)," Ahmednasir advised.

The Senior Counsel further lamented that the focus of the war against corruption appears skewed as it usually nets low ranking officials and rarely apprehends the bosses.

"NYS is peanuts... the poor man's bread. That we zero on the corruption of the poor shows our elitist strategy," Ahmednasir opined.
