3000M World Record Holder Daniel Kipngetich Komen Charged With Fraud

3000M world record holder Daniel Kipngetich Komen was on Monday charged in court with counts of forgery and obtaining money by false pretences.

He is accused of trying to defraud Mr Thomas Kamotho of a vehicle valued at Sh1.75 Million at The Junction along Ngong Road in Nairobi.

Komen, who is also an aspiring Member of County Assembly (MCA) for a ward in Eldoret, denied the charges levelled against him claiming it was a ploy by his political rivals to derail his bid.

The prosecution was opposed to him being freed on bond arguing that he may leave the country anytime for competition.

He denied all the charges and was freed on a bond of Sh500,000 or bail of Sh300,000.

The matter will be heard on 19th May this year while it will be mentioned on April 26, 2017.
