Raila is Still NASA's Leader- Kalonzo Musyoka Affirms

Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Sunday defended of Opposition leader Raila Odinga after a section of his allies urged him to dethrone the former Prime Minister as the leader of the National Super Alliance (NASA).

Speaking at AIC Church in Athi River, Machakos County, Kalonzo affirmed that Raila was the leader of NASA and the opposition was still intact.

"NASA is still intact with Odinga as the official Opposition leader and unity between the two leaders (Uhuru and Raila) does not mean that the Opposition is dead.

"The country has for long been ethnically divided. I support the handshake between Uhuru and Raila because for a lasting solution, people have to sacrifice themselves. Let us give them the benefit of doubt,” he assured.

The Wiper leader's sentiments came after a section of the party members urged him to take up the mantle as the leader of the opposition.

Matungulu MP Stephen Mule led the fray stating that Raila was now in government and could not perform the duty of criticizing the government objectively.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga should concentrate on uniting Kenyans to move the country forward and be ready to be oversighted by us with Kalonzo Musyoka as the official Opposition leader.

“You (Raila) should let Kalonzo be the official Opposition leader since you are already intimate with the Jubilee Government,” the MP declared

Echoing the statement, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau conveyed: “Raila has joined the government. The country cannot stay without Opposition, we cannot all join the government.

“We must leave others to oversee the government, Kalonzo take the role,” added Makau.

On his part, former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama urged Kalonzo to unite with Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi to see that NASA's objectives are accomplished.

“We want Kalonzo, Wetangula and Mudavadi to come together so that we take Kenya to where NASA wanted it to be. We are still committed to taking Kenyans to Canaan from Egypt,”

“The three leaders do not have any problem with Uhuru, we will unite Kenyans but remain in Opposition,” he explained.
