Moi Girls Principal Jael Muriithi Applies for Early Retirement

Moi Girls principal Jael Muriithi has sought an early exit from office following the rape scandal that has rocked the institution.

It has been confirmed that Muriithi has applied for early retirement even as calls for her removal grew louder.

The incident has also led to the disolving of the schools teachers and parents association. Earlier, parents and former students had turned up to protest demanding the removal of the principal who was one year due to retirement.

Three Moi Girls students that were privy to the ordeals including the victim had revealed a ploy to have them remain mum on the matter with some of the teachers being reported to have promised them scholarships should they shut up and live with the details of the rape case.

Education CS Amina Mohammed has also dissolved the school's board in a bid to turn arround its management given it has been trouble ridden from last years fire that claimed lives of students.

The sucurity personel assigned to the school have been relinguished while five armed police officers have been deployed to secure the school. Parents have been advised to to pick new leaders to their association next week.

On Tuesday, the area was treated to teargas and gunshots fired by police who led demolishion of temparary business structures around the school.

Another two schools, one in Nairobi and the other in one in Homa Bay have also been put on the spot over similar occurrences.

A family has reported to Jogoo Road police an alleged rape of their daughter who schools at Huruma Girls in Nairobi.

A cook at the school has been accused of inappropriately touching the victim. The incident at Huruma occured on May 19, 2018 but has been reported only after the Moi Girls incident that has sparked public uproar over the security of female students in boarding schools.

At Homa Bay's Rusinga girls high school, a man has been reported to have gained access to the girls dormitory on Monday night. The perpertrator is said to have taken advantage of the darkness that had engulfed the school for at least two weeks. According to the are police boss, the school has been without power supply for several weeks after a KPLC transfomer serving the area blew up and had not been repaired.
