Ahmednasir Lashes Out at Esther Passaris Over Her Interest in Nairobi Deputy Governor Job

Senior counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi on Tuesday lashed out at Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris over her expressing an interest in taking up the Nairobi Deputy Governor Position.

Posting on his Twitter, Ahmednasir noted: "So the seat we elected you to is a mere stepping stone...to a better/bigger office? Not fair to the electorate of Nairobi!!!

"Passaris asks Sonko to name her deputy governor," he added sarcastically.

The respected advocate was supported by a section of Kenyans who highlighted that the office she (Passaris) currently holds is more important than that of the Deputy Governor.

"@EstherPassaris if this is true, then it is extremely disappointing. The seat you hold is more reputable and respected than DG. Or is it about managing budgets, issuing contracts and getting kickbacks? Shame," one user directed.

However, in response, most Kenyans were haste to dismiss him stating that Passaris has all the qualifications needed for that position.

Other netizens went ahead to assert that the ODM legislator has done more for the  Nairobians as compared to the Senior Counsel hence he ought not to dismiss her interest.

Another tweep affirmed: "Truth be said @ahmednasirlaw, this lady @EstherPassaris  has a perfect track record in development issues and has all it takes to be in that position. Perfect match. I fully support."

Supporting the lawmaker's move, one Samuel Irungu stated: "Don't be a crybaby. She will have access to resources and can serve better. The only downside to this is Nairobians will be subjected to an election."

On Tuesday, Passaris disclosed that she is ready to quit her job as a legislator and assume the Deputy Governor’s post left vacant by Polycarp Igathe.

Passaris cited that she wants to take up the position since Miguna Miguna who was nominated by Governor Mike Sonko in May rejected the post.

“The governor needs a deputy and if he cannot find one I am willing to take the position. I have already asked Sonko if I can be his deputy and in the spirit of the March 9th handshake we can have a NASA-Jubilee partnership,” she mentioned.
