The Nairobi County CEC for Devolution and Public Service Management, Veska Kangogo has been suspended over insubordination.
This is after she went against orders issued by the county chief Mike Sonko prohibiting a particular trip to the United States.
According to the County Secretary and Head of County Public Service Peter Kariuki, Kangogo had been issued with the directive but went on and disobeyed the orders.

"It has come to the attention of this office that you traveled to the USA on June 1st, 2018 having received express instructions from H.E the Governor not to proceed on the trip prior to departure," the suspension letter read.
In the letter, Kariuki termed Kangogo's failure to obey lawful instructions from her boss "tantamount to insubordination."
The CEC was directed to step aside from her duties and responsibilities as the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Devolution and Public Service Management.
She was further instructed to proceed on leave pending provision of a satisfactory response as to why she traveled without express authority from the Governor.
Kangogo is a former vice chairperson of the County Public Service Board during former Governor Evans Kidero's administration.
She is a former Gubernatorial Aspirant for the Uasin Gishu County where she lost in the URP ticket nomination contest.

She has also worked in an acting capacity as the Finance Executive after Sonko suspended two senior officers in the Finance Department.
The two Danvas Makori (Finance executive) and Ekaya Alumasi (Chief Officer) were sent on compulsory leave in March over allegations that they were working with Kidero - their former boss.
